11.9. Where data and credentials are stored

Documents and extracted data stay on your infrastructure: the batch folders of the configuration and, in Enterprise, the SQL Server database. ChronoScan does not host them. Only license data, consumption, technical errors and, if you enable it, anonymous usage telemetry go to the ChronoScan HUB; never document content. AI and cloud OCR send the document text or images to the provider you choose; with Azure OpenAI or local models you control where. See Where things live (folders and files) for the folders.
Credentials
Support and diagnostics
The Help and Support button builds a support package (logs and sanitised configuration, without credentials, plus optional batches) as a local zip that you review and send yourself. Crash dumps sent to the HUB contain program state, not documents. Telemetry is opt-in and anonymous.
Retention and compliance
You decide how long batches are kept after export; deletion can be automated with a scheduled task or a script. In Enterprise there is traceability of who validated and exported each document, and roles and permissions per job and action. For demanding customers ChronoScan recommends Azure OpenAI in an EU region or local models; the business terms of OpenAI and Google exclude using API data for training.
